I was most happy to attend the Ventura Parade on August 4th. I got to ride on the Wenches and Warriors (and Pirates) float. Of course I was traveling incognito as the servant of Lord and Lady Sussex. Do not be fooled by their sweet smiles for they did beat me because I would not follow behind as a good servant should. I did tell them I was checking for the droppings of horses, tis why I did run ahead.
I did also learn to the play a new game - bippity bippity bop - and as luck would have it with a newbie, I did not enter the circle once. Finally, I did think me, a game that I could play well. Then again, once is not enough to make such a judgement, or so I have been told.
We did also learn much of pirates and of guns on Saturday at the workshops - there were some big guns during that time. It did take much time to reload them so we were told. On Sunday we did partake of drinks - lemon, pomegrante, hippocras - yum - yum. I did like me the Hippocras the best. Then we did learn how to flirt - most interesting - I think me we could all learn more on how to flirt - I think I need to practice everyday though so I can get it right.
I got to attend the Koroneburg Faire twice this year. Lady St. Loe (disguised as Mistress Holland) did accompany me and a fine time we had. The first week-end we did meet a most charming pirate that did purr. It was quite exciting. Then we did meet a man called "No-Pants" - I need not tell you why. The jousting was most fun to watch. But I did enjoy the archery competition the most. Indeed I did learn more about the dirfferent kinds of arrows than I had ever surmised possible. I even did have a chance to attempt to hit that small target so very far from me. And lo and behold, I actually managed to do that. Now I do have the archery bug, (or is it a virus, gradually infecting your body until you are hooked, body and soul). I have heard that Lady St. Loe did refer to me as a "man-magnet", whatever that is, but I do believe it was all the silver and jewelry I was wearing upon my body. If I did fall to the ground, I would not be able to rise.
Unhappily I will not be attending the Renaissance and Pirate Faire in Ojai as I will be traveling afar to the European continent. However, I am much looking forward to the Faire at Escondido.
